Wake up an Smell the Roses…..
Haiti has its President. Haiti has the president chosen by the people themselves. The people have their vicitory, their justice, their hope. Today is a new day for Haiti...a new beginning. World, sit back and watch the reversal of an almost lost and deteriorated country!
At midnight, the Electoral Council (CEP) officially declared Rene G. Preval as President of Haiti with 51.15 % of the ballots. At 3:15 am, the victory was officially announced to the people of Haiti. The people were already in the streets having never gone to bed (including me) and the joy and excitement, the dancing, the waving of the tree branches (symbolic of victory and joy) were dominate in every direction. The people are chanting….Happy New Year….shaking hands. as they see this victory as a new beginning. They are shouting and chanting......
-- Preval is President, Live, Live,Live
-- Whether you want him or not Preval is President
-- Throw away or don’t throw away the ballots, he is President
-- We have our victory
How do I feel. My stress level is normal!!!!!!.... I feel relieved, joyous, hopeful, and completely renewed in my spirit as I too have suffered along with all the people of Haiti an economic and depressiveness that has taken its total on me mentally and physically. I feel that after four years of total misery, kidnapping, killings, hijackings, high cost of foods, etc., that there will be relief in abundance. Today, I will leave my house with a peace and a serenity that has been absence for too long. I will drive my car and not have to wonder if someone is going to jump out and rob me or take my car. I can sleep better beginning tonight without have to wonder about every little noise...is it a thief; and, if I am out and it becomes dark...I can feel safe. I give God all the glory for this victory as I have felt and seen His work. I have witnessed the spiritual change of the people as they have turned to God for hope. I fall on my knees, bow my head..thanking God!
The election was a historical event for Haiti...it was peaceful, full of determination. I have great respect for this president and I will continue to pray that God will give him the strength and wisdom to lead this country the way God has outlined in his plan for Haiti.
As a Christian, I feel that this is the year of Jubliee for Haiti and its people and for all of those who remained spiritually faithful and who refused to believe that there was no hope for this country.
We all need to pray that Preval will keep in his mind and his heart that he has been given a great commission and a great responsibility for this country and that his victory was first given by the grace and mercy of God and second by the people. If, he keeps this in the forefront, he can do nothing less than make this a great country that will be the model for other countries.
I encourage all of you who have kept Haiti in prayer to continue your prayers so that the combined strength can be spiritually passed on to the leaders and the people of Haiti. Today, the seeds planted by God's faith workers have taken root...come and be a part of the great reforestation as the seedlings are transplanted throughout Haiti.
Blessings to Haiti and all the people of Haiti.
